Its practical value therefore lies not in timing but in flagging sentiment froth, since extreme peaks in growth rate have repeatedly coincided with cycle-top zones. Note also that the social landscape itself has shifted, with Reddit's relative importance in crypto diluted by other platforms, so comparing absolute growth rates across cycles understates recent true attention levels.
