Hong Kong Bitcoin ETFs

Hong Kong's spot Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs listed in April 2024 as the first crypto ETFs in the Asian time zone to permit in-kind creations and redemptions. This page is planned to track their flows, assets under management and premium or discount relative to US products.

Hong Kong's products are far smaller than their US counterparts, so daily percentage swings are extreme and absolute dollar figures are more informative than growth rates. Two things genuinely matter: in-kind creation lets market makers settle directly in spot, which should compress premiums and discounts; and the Asian trading session makes these products one of the few public windows onto Asian institutional demand — sustained divergence between Hong Kong and US flows usually reflects regional regulatory or funding differences.

ETF and institutional metrics track regulated fund flows. Daily prints are extremely noisy and a single day's number carries almost no predictive value — read weekly and cumulative trends instead.
