OI / Volume Screener

Che cos'è OI / Volume Screener?

An OI/volume screener filters and sorts every contract in the market by open interest, volume and their rates of change, for quickly locating where capital is entering or leaving.

Come leggerlo

The combination of open interest and volume is the core logic: OI up with volume up usually means new money opening positions; OI down with volume up means positions closing; OI rising on muted volume can indicate block trades or passive market-maker accumulation. Either dimension alone misleads — a volume surge can be opening or closing, and only the OI change disambiguates. Set a liquidity floor when screening, since percentage change rates on small contracts distort wildly.

Dove si colloca

Tool pages combine several metrics into a filterable, sortable interface for narrowing down what to watch. They are a workflow aid, not a standalone signal.

Metodologia e avvertenze

Beyond the raw columns, a screener's derived fields carry most of the information. Turnover, volume divided by open interest, measures how fast the outstanding position stock is churning: readings above one mean the average contract changed hands within the day, indicating speculative rotation, while low turnover with growing OI indicates positions being built to hold. Change-rate windows should come in pairs, short against long, say four-hour against three-day, so that acceleration is visible rather than just level. Preset templates encode the recurring questions: fresh leverage, where OI rises sharply alongside price; capitulation candidates, where OI collapses after a drawdown; and quiet accumulation, where OI grinds up on flat price and muted volume. Screen output changes character around funding settlements and expiry days, when mechanical flows dominate, so those windows deserve suppressing or annotating. As with the gems screener, results are a research queue: conclusions come from the follow-up work in each coin's own OI, funding and liquidation pages.
