Che cos'è Addresses Holding X BTC by Year?

This page is planned to show address counts across holding tiers as annual cross-sections — extending a snapshot of the distribution into how that distribution has evolved year by year, revealing long-run structural change in Bitcoin wealth distribution.

Come leggerlo

The annual view reveals trends invisible at a single point in time: early Bitcoin holdings were extremely concentrated, with a few miners controlling most supply, and over time counts in low and middle tiers grew far faster than high tiers as the distribution steadily dispersed. That dispersion has shown signs of reversing recently — custody and ETFs re-aggregate supply into a few entities, so even though the ultimate beneficiaries are dispersed, the on-chain view shows rising concentration. This is precisely the fundamental limit of on-chain distribution data: it sees addresses, not beneficiaries.

Dove si colloca

Address metrics track how on-chain balances are distributed. Remember an address is not a person: exchange hot/cold wallets, custodians and change addresses all distort the count, so the direction of the trend matters far more than the absolute number.

Stato dei dati

The live chart for this metric is still being wired up. Other address-cohort tiers already carry real data — see the links below.
