The value here is calibrating expectations, not generating signals. Two caveats: market-cap definitions are not directly comparable — gold's is a stock valuation, equity caps embed float discounts, and real-estate methodologies vary enormously, so cross-category comparisons are order-of-magnitude only. And narratives like 'Bitcoin passes company X' carry almost no predictive power, though the framing does help explain capacity: a larger cap means the same inflow produces a smaller percentage move, which is the structural reason long-run volatility decays.

Macro correlation metrics gauge how tightly crypto tracks traditional markets. Correlation coefficients are notoriously unstable and flip with the liquidity regime, so read them on a rolling basis rather than as a single number.
