Why a monthly view

This chart sums miner USD revenue by calendar month. Daily figures are noisy — block-finding luck, one-off fee spikes — while monthly aggregation filters the noise and reveals the industry's medium-term rhythm: halving cliffs, bull-market revenue peaks and long bear-market troughs all read clearly as bars.

Peaks and troughs on record

Monthly revenue records cluster where price and fees ran hot together — the 2021 bull market and the fee-active months around the April 2024 halving are both verifiable on the chart. Troughs align with deep bears and post-halving shakeouts. For mining companies, monthly revenue is the cash-flow unit that matches power bills and debt service — one reason listed miners report production monthly or quarterly.

How to use it

Read monthly revenue against network hashrate. When revenue falls while hashrate keeps climbing on momentum, industry margins get squeezed from both ends — historically a setup for rising miner sell pressure and the culling of inefficient fleets. When revenue recovers before hashrate catches up, mining margins are at their best. This is foundational data for the question: when are miners forced sellers?
