How many coins are in the green

Supply in Profit = the total number of bitcoins whose cost basis sits below the current market price. The provider bitcoin-data.com resolves cost to the individual UTXO: each output's basis is the spot price (Binance 1-minute close) at the exact moment it was created, compared coin by coin against the day's market price. Note this is a per-UTXO individual cost, not the network-wide Realized Price average — the metric is sensitive to the distribution of the cost structure, not just its mean.

The family distinctions, once more with feeling

Versus the count-based UTXOs in Profit page, the difference is weight: a single 1,000 BTC output in profit contributes 1,000 coins here but just one receipt there — divergence between the two reveals whether paper gains concentrate in large or small holdings. Versus Realized Profit (a dollar flow), the difference is tense: this page is a stock snapshot of how many coins are currently winning; that page is a flow record of how much was cashed out today. The three pages form a complete state-versus-action chain.

Cycle read

Supply in profit pressing toward the circulating-supply ceiling — nearly every coin in the green — is the signature of a mature bull: the market's aggregate cost sits far below spot and potential profit-taking energy is fully charged. Historical tops have all printed against this near-universal-profit backdrop (within this site's window, the mid-December 2024 through 2025 high zones repeatedly pushed supply-in-profit above roughly ninety-five percent of circulating supply). Conversely, a deep contraction toward parity with supply-in-loss has historically mapped to deep bears and capitulation — which is also where the next cycle's cost structure begins rebuilding.

Data notes

Three. Lost coins participate forever at the price of their last move — and near-zero-cost early coins form a permanently-in-profit base layer, giving the metric a natural floor. Supply in profit plus supply in loss should sum to roughly circulating supply; on rare days this site's feed shows anomalous readings (including an occasional negative glitch) from collection errors at the source — skip them. And this page shares its underlying data with the percentage-based Supply in Profit % page elsewhere on this site; one shows absolute coins, the other the ratio — different search habits, same substance.
