How do I read the liquidation heatmap?

The x-axis is time, the y-axis is price, and the color shows how much liquidation liquidity is estimated at each price level: the brighter the color (blue → green → yellow), the more positions would be liquidated there. The yellow dashed line marks the current price. Bright bands above the price are mostly short liquidation levels; bright bands below are mostly long liquidation levels.

What is a liquidation cluster (magnet zone)?

A liquidation cluster is a price zone where a large amount of liquidation liquidity stacks up. Price is often attracted to these zones — market makers and large traders push price into dense liquidation areas to trigger stop-cascades and harvest liquidity — which is why they are called magnet zones. The table below the chart ranks the strongest clusters.

Where does the data come from and how is it calculated?

CoinBoss aggregates real-time open interest, price and leverage distribution across major exchanges, then estimates the liquidation price bands of leveraged positions (e.g. 5x / 10x / 25x / 50x / 100x) using each exchange's margin formulas. The result is a 250-level price grid updated continuously, with intensity normalized to 0–250 per cell.

Why do actual liquidations differ from the heatmap?

The heatmap shows estimated liquidation levels, not guaranteed orders: traders may add margin, close early, or use cross margin, all of which move or remove liquidation levels. Treat bright zones as probability-weighted liquidity targets rather than exact triggers, and always combine them with other indicators.
