Source: self-collected spot ticker snapshots from each venue's public API (every 10 minutes). History accumulates from 2026-07-06 — the chart grows over time and contains no earlier data. Scope: all USD/USDT/USDC-quoted spot pairs' 24h turnover per venue; US-regulated = Coinbase + Kraken, offshore = Binance/OKX/Bybit/Gate/Bitget/HTX. Unconnected venues (e.g. Upbit) are excluded.

Methodology

US-regulated = Coinbase + Kraken (US-licensed, serving US customers); offshore = Binance, OKX, Bybit, Gate, Bitget and HTX. We sum 24h quote-side turnover of all USD/USDT/USDC spot pairs per venue. Futures and unconnected venues (Upbit, Bitstamp, Gemini, etc.) are excluded — this is a relative comparison within an eight-venue sample, not an absolute market-wide share.

How to use it

A rising US share usually marks institution-led tape (spot ETF creations, compliant capital inflow); a falling share points to Asia-session retail and altcoin dominance. The signal strengthens when the Coinbase premium (see our Coinbase Premium Index) moves in the same direction.
